Turns out Caesar is taking what isn’t Caesar’s, something that belongs to YOU. This means Caesar is the one violating Jesus’ command with income taxation. Jesus’ words mean the opposite of what people think. Gotta sit in the context to see Jesus’ brilliance in that conversation with the blue checkmarks of his day.
.
And Jesus goes on, “Give to God what is God’s.” Turns out we all belong to God, Caesar included, and should stop bowing to Caesar as if we belong to him.
.
Tax day is a systemic injustice that should be abolished. It makes us victims of evil and possibly culpable of a great many more.
Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s?
