Humility is compatriot of truth.

Share:

The willingness to be open to reality at all costs is a virtue. I don’t know how we arrive at truth and then live that truth without it. We surrender to truth as the recipients, not the makers, of it.

Never, however, confuse humility with good manners. While good manners have their place, they can easily disguise arrogance and be entrenched in truth-denying traditions. And by “good manners” I mean talk and behaviors approved by a group. All groups have them. We are after truth and humility is a necessary disposition to find it.
